Charmouth Literary Festival

Some of our JCW members have enjoyed this event very much before. This next Saturday!

6th CHARMOUTH LITERARY FESTIVAL
A village literary festival for people who like to write

This is a free event as they would like many writers, and would be writers, to come along and be entertained, inspired and motivated.

Saturday 10th October 2015 9.30am – 5pm
St Andrews Community Hall, Lower Sea Lane, Charmouth.
David Pollard, poet, from Brighton, will be presenting his latest collection of poems based on the self portraits of artists such as Rubens.
Glenys Newt from Cambridge will be talking about writing her memoir on the empty nest syndrome brought about when her son left home.
Peter John Cooper will present his latest play, Eve of War. War seeps through generations and Nanny Cummins is at pains to keep the horror from little Arthur.
Gill Capper has been an ardent blogger and produced a book as a result, Dog A Log.
They will also have a variety of local presenters, this is always popular and gives you a chance to give voice to your writing. There is an opportunity for you to get involved throughout the day with writing as encouraged by the speakers.

An Informal Group

We can look happier than this!We enjoy reading our work to each other and are willing to accept constructive criticism such as “I think that it could be improved if you……” NOT “That’s rubbish” or  similar unkind remarks. You don’t have to read out the suggested homework but it is useful to have some ideas for those who find themselves with ‘writer’s block.

We generally are much happier than we look in this photo and a more recent one will be on the site ASAP! Not all of us are on this picture and the numbers do vary, depending on what we busy people are doing! We each pay £1.50 a time in order to cover the library cost. There is no subscription, or AGM or committee! Just turn up and join in.
